Yeah, me too. I’m Caleb, and I’ve lived on both sides of the ocean, asked God a lot of hard questions, and read way too many massive epic fantasy novels. Sometimes all three simultaneously!
And through that process, I found myself craving stories that did justice to the whole experience of following Christ—the joy and vibrancy of resurrection and the pain and sorrow of picking up our crosses. The stories I found that did that the best all had one thing in common: deep, expansive world that invited me into mystery and wonder.

Authenticity
Too many of the Christian fantasy books I’ve read have simply slapped a gospel sticker on the cover and called it a day. But in my experience, real Christian living is both much harder and much more rewarding. My heart for storytelling is to craft real characters who ask real questions and see how God answers.
Theology
Fantasy, in my opinion, is one of the most powerful tools we have to explore and proclaim God’s nature. Just ask Tolkien and Lewis! That’s why I infuse my stories with real world theological questions and ideas that go beyond a theme verse to challenge, encourage, and dig deeper into God’s nature.
Complexity
If God reveals himself through his creation, why shouldn’t fiction do the same? A longtime fan of the worlds of Brandon Sanderson, I want to share unique and complex worlds with magic, political intrigue, and moral complexity that goes deeper than what color laser beams the characters are shooting.

Voices of the Future: Stories of Myth & Memory is a collection of short stories from myself and nine of my Author Conservatory classmates! These ten stories all reflect who we were, are, and could be—and many, like mine, have deep, fantastical worlds!
